ALL ABOUT THERAPY

Therapy strives to help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Through the use of various psychotherapy methods and collaborative treatment measures, my clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with many of life’s various obstacles. My therapy sessions are designed to explore personal issues and provide clients with effective tools to help them move forward, develop awareness of their strengths, and minimize the impact of uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, actions, or events.

Generally, my aim is to help you find safety and clarity in talking to someone about your thoughts, feelings, or challenges. I can provide support and guidance for problem solving, identifying options, or making difficult decisions in your life. Together, we build strategies for managing difficult emotions, improving communication, embracing change, and finding balance for long term health and vitality. My framework draws from evidence based modalities and approaches that complement my client's individual counselling goals.

When working with children, I utilize an integrative approach; my methods include the use of play-based, cognitive-behavioural, narrative, art, and strengths-based techniques. I collaborate with parents to help ensure that they are able to continue the support framework while at home.

ALL ABOUT ASSESSMENT

A Psychological Assessment involves the planned use of interviews and specific psychological assessments (tests) to identify strengths, areas of limitations, and to explore functioning in multiple areas of development. Most assessments take 3 or 4 sessions and include an initial intake meeting (with the parents for child/youth assessments), individual testing, and a final feedback meeting. You are provided with a comprehensive report which you can then distribute to other professionals involved in your support/care network (i.e. family doctor, pediatrician, teacher, etc.).

I offer a wide range of assessment services, including psycho-educational assessments, ADHD assessments, autism spectrum disorder, social-emotional assessments, and executive functioning assessments.

My assessments are comprehensive and customized to the child or adult. Assessments may include behavioural observations, teacher and parent reports, cognitive and academic testing, as well as ratings of social-emotional, behavioural and/or executive functioning.

I combine assessment, diagnosis, and research based treatment in my practice, to help ensure that recommendations and interventions are individualized and meaningful.

CONSULTATION SERVICES

I work with a number of families to provide support to both their in-home or at-school programming.

I can help identify behavioural needs, advocate for academic supports, and complete the appropriate documentation, that may be required for Program Unit Funding (PUF) requests for preschools, public and private schools.
